Our story
A father and son project.
The Turing Box started from two obsessions: magic and engineering. Lorenzo, an aerospace engineering student, designs the electronics and writes the firmware. His father, a woodworker, builds every box by hand in our workshop in Italy.
The shell is cut at 45° so the grain wraps around each corner. Inside sits a circuit board we designed from scratch and had made with our name on it.

How does the magic switchboard trick work?
Four switches, four coloured lights. The magician swaps the lights and the caps, and every switch still lights its own colour. When a spectator tries, it no longer works. The method stays secret, but no sleight of hand is needed: the hidden WiFi page teaches you the routine step by step.
How hard is it to perform?
No sleight of hand at all. It relies on a hidden sequence and a little memory. The hidden WiFi page has a step-by-step tutorial.
Which batteries does it use?
Exactly 2 × AA alkaline batteries, 1.5 V. Do not use rechargeable NiMH batteries (1.2 V): the blue LED needs at least 3.0 V, and with rechargeables the trick misbehaves.
Do I need an app?
No. When you enter the secret sequence the box creates its own WiFi network (TheTuringBox_AP). Connect with any phone or computer and open 192.168.4.1. Fully offline.
Can spectators examine the box?
Yes. In a spectator’s hands the switches behave normally: each one lights only the LED in front of it. The magic happens only when you want it to.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship from Italy. Italy, the EU, the UK and USA/Canada can order straight from this page, with the shipping shown before you pay. For any other country, write to theturingbox@turchini.uk first and we will quote it. Outside the EU, import duties and VAT are charged by the courier on delivery.
How long does delivery take?
If a box is ready, it ships in 2-5 working days. If not, it is built by hand after your order: allow 4-5 weeks. The order box shows which one applies right now.
What is the return policy?
For Italy, the EU and the UK: 7 days from delivery for unused boxes, with return shipping (€20) paid by you. Orders to the USA and Canada are final and cannot be returned. Write to theturingbox@turchini.uk to start a return.
Can I reflash the firmware?
The firmware is ours, but once you unlock the secret mode the ESP8266 accepts updates over WiFi (OTA). Advanced users can upload their own; the documentation is on the hidden page.
